Goat Power Bikes is taking two of our most popular platforms to the next level with the all-new Power Goat MD and Motor Goat MD.

Our most anticipated launch since the viral Power Goat V3 and Motor Goat V3, the new MD models take the high-performance mid-drive system developed for the 62AH King Goat and bring it into two familiar GOAT configurations.

Both bikes deliver 5,000W rated power, up to 12,000W peak power, and 380Nm of torque, with performance built for riders looking for more acceleration, climbing capability, and off-road confidence.

Both models are now available for preorder, with initial orders beginning to ship in October. Quantities on the first shipment are limited.

Meet the Power Goat MD

The Power Goat MD combines the passenger-friendly Power Goat platform with our new high-output mid-drive powertrain.

At its core is a 5,000W rated / 12,000W peak mid-drive motor producing 380Nm of torque, paired with a massive 72V 62.5AH SVOLT frame battery.

The longer 3-foot seat gives riders room to accommodate a passenger, while dual rear suspension and front footrests create a comfortable setup whether you're riding around town or heading beyond the pavement.

Power Goat MD highlights include:

  • 5,000W rated / 12,000W peak power
  • 380Nm of torque
  • 72V 62.5AH SVOLT frame battery
  • 3-foot-long seat
  • 550LB maximum load capacity
  • 34-inch seat height
  • 9 inches of ground clearance
  • Dual FASTACE rear shocks
  • TRAMA inverted motorcycle-style front fork
  • KARASAWA 4-piston DOT hydraulic disc brakes
  • INNOVA self-repairing puncture-resistant tubeless tires
  • Front footrests for a relaxed riding position
  • Up to 75MPH in unlocked operating modes

The result is the familiar Power Goat layout with an entirely different level of performance underneath it.

Meet the Motor Goat MD

The Motor Goat MD brings our high-output mid-drive platform to the Motor Goat lineup, delivering the familiar design riders love with an entirely new level of torque and performance.

It produces the same 5,000W rated power, 12,000W peak power, and 380Nm of torque, but uses a different battery configuration.

Instead of one large frame battery, the Motor Goat MD comes stock with two Samsung 50S batteries, a 72V 30AH primary battery and 72V 20AH secondary battery.

Motor Goat MD highlights include:

  • 5,000W rated / 12,000W peak power
  • 380Nm of torque
  • 72V 30AH Samsung 50S primary battery
  • 72V 20AH Samsung 50S secondary battery included
  • Short Motor Goat seat
  • 440LB maximum load capacity
  • 217LB net weight
  • 34-inch seat height
  • 9 inches of ground clearance
  • FASTACE rear suspension
  • TRAMA inverted motorcycle-style front fork
  • KARASAWA 4-piston DOT hydraulic disc brakes
  • INNOVA self-repairing puncture-resistant tubeless tires
  • Up to 75MPH in unlocked operating modes

For riders who prefer the classic Motor Goat look and a unique setup, the Motor Goat MD delivers the same core mid-drive performance in a new package.

What Is a Mid-Drive Motor?

The biggest change is right in the name: MD stands for Mid Drive.

On a traditional direct-drive hub motor, the motor itself is built into the wheel and powers that wheel directly.

A mid-drive motor is mounted closer to the center of the bike and sends power through the drivetrain instead.

Moving the motor away from the wheel centralizes more of the bike's mass around the frame rather than concentrating it in the rear wheel. This reduces motor weight at the wheel and can create a more balanced feel when riding through rough or changing terrain.

Mid-drive systems can also take advantage of drivetrain gearing when designed with multiple gear ratios, allowing the motor to operate more effectively during low-speed, high-resistance riding such as steep climbs.

Mid Drive vs. Direct Drive

Both systems have advantages, and the best option depends on how and where you ride.

Mid-Drive Motors

Mid-drive systems are especially well suited for riders looking for:

  • Strong low-speed torque
  • Better performance under heavy loads
  • Steep hill and climbing capability
  • More centralized weight distribution
  • Reduced motor mass inside the rear wheel
  • Technical and off-road riding

This type of riding is where mid-drive systems tend to shine. Low-speed, high-resistance conditions such as steep terrain, loose surfaces, sand, and technical trails can benefit significantly from a centrally mounted drivetrain.

Direct-Drive Hub Motors

Direct-drive motors still have plenty of advantages of their own.

Because the motor drives the wheel independently of the chain and drivetrain, direct-drive systems are mechanically simple and put less motor-related stress on drivetrain components. They're also extremely smooth and well suited for steady-speed cruising and road riding.

In simple terms:

  • Mid Drive: Built for torque, changing terrain, climbing, and aggressive riding.
  • Direct Drive: Simple, smooth, proven, and excellent for cruising and steady-speed riding.

That's why we're continuing to offer both platforms. The new MD lineup isn't replacing the Motor Goat V3 or Power Goat V3, it's giving riders another option based on the type of performance they're looking for.

Power Goat MD vs. Motor Goat MD

Both bikes use the same 12,000W peak mid-drive platform, but they're designed for different riders.

Choose the Power Goat MD if you want:

  • A long 3-foot seat
  • More room for a passenger
  • 550LB maximum load capacity
  • One massive 62.5AH SVOLT frame battery
  • Front footrests
  • The familiar Power Goat riding experience

Choose the Motor Goat MD if you want:

  • A shorter, stripped-down setup
  • A lighter 217LB platform
  • Dual Samsung batteries included stock
  • Classic Motor Goat styling
  • A more minimal single-rider configuration

Whichever platform you choose, both deliver the same 5,000W rated, 12,000W peak, 380Nm mid-drive powertrain.

The Next Generation of Goat Power Bikes

The Power Goat MD and Motor Goat MD bring our King Goat mid-drive performance platform to two of the bikes that helped build the GOAT lineup.

More torque. More capability. New battery configurations. And two completely different setups depending on how you want to ride.

Preorders are available now, with the first shipment beginning in October. Initial quantities are limited.
